From the Tar
A downloadable book
A horror novel about five queer people on the edge of a great change in their relationships, neuroses flaring, memories warping, who are suddenly and inexplicably visited by a bug from hell, ripping apart the plurality keeping them discrete beings; keeping their minds, bodies, and spirits intact; keeping them safe.
Told in short sections following each perspective, with textual anomalies, bits of poetry and playwriting, erotic and philosophical distractions, and columns of simultaneous thought, From the Tar is experimental, strange, and maddening. For fans of body horror, cannibalism, queer life, time travel, sex, trauma, experimental text, and fetishizing what scares you
From the Tar is New York-born, Melbourne-based writer Devi Lir's first novel. She is currently a PhD candidate of Screen and Cultural Studies at the University of Melbourne studying effects and representations of dangerous queer sexuality on film.
